Palm Jumeirah Atlantis the Palm Dubai

Dubai : Travel Like a Local to the Palm Island

We traveled to Dubai, and spent a wonderful day at the Atlantis, The Palm Hotel located on the palm island.

First a little background information on the Palm Jumeirah Island, which is a manmade island located on the coast of Dubai. You can get there via car, or public transportation. The palm has its own monorail you can buy a ticket for and can get off at various stations such as the Pointe, Atlantis and the Nakheel Mall.  The monorail is a must-do attraction because it gives you a stunning elevated view of the palm and its branches! I would recommend trying to get the front seats which give you a direct frontal view of along the journey.

If you are staying in the Dubai Marina area, you can take the tram or the bus to the Palm Jumeirah Monorail Station.

If you are staying in Downtown Dubai you can take the metro and then bus.

Another option is taking a taxi, which you can order through the Dubai Taxi Corporation App or by calling 80088088 using a UAE SIM card.

Things to do at Atlantis, The Palm

Get off the Monorail at the Atlantis, the Palm stop.

After this you can take a walk around the Atlantis Hotel (which is a beautiful replica of the one in the Bahamas) and see if you can get a glimpse of the Ambassador’s lagoon, which is their huge aquarium with 65,000 animals.

The lobby of the Atlantis hotel is stunning, featuring a freestanding blown glass sculpture at its center.

Unfortunately there is a cost to go into that section of the hotel, unless you make a reservation at the Nobu or Kaleidoscope restaurants for lunch or dinner or are a hotel guest.

Another activity is The Lost Chambers Aquarium, which is beautiful but if you are planning on paying a visit to the Dubai Mall aquarium, you aren’t missing out on much.

The Aquaventure Waterpark has the Guinness World record for the most water slides in a water park, and is a really fun time for the whole family. Keep in mind that in the summer months from May to September it is extremely hot. The waterpark features amazing group and single rider slides, including the iconic Leap of Faith slide, which passes under an aquarium of sharks and rays. Atlantis also features a surfing ride which is amazing, we recommend you do this as soon as you get to the park because it can get pretty crowded.

If you're willing to brave the heat you can stay at the hotel during the summer months at a cheaper rate, and it includes entry into the waterpark and access to the lagoon. There is also the hotel beach and pool which are beautiful.

Now for one of my favorite parts of traveling: food!

If you don’t have breakfast included at your hotel, a great breakfast option is Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Bar located in the Atlantis Hotel. We had delicious eggs benedict and blueberry yogurt!

If you want to have lunch or dinner at Atlantis, Wavehouse is a really cool restaurant where you can get great food and enjoy the ambiance. The outside terrace has a great atmosphere and inside the bowling is a fun entertainment option.

Another option that is on the pricier side is Kaleidoscope, which has an amazing international buffet. I would recommend skipping breakfast and going for brunch here to enjoy the variety of cuisines they offer. This is a great opportunity to try Arab cuisines and delicacies from the middle east and have other options for picky eaters.

Depending on the activities you pick you can spend half a day or the whole day here at the Atlantis, The Palm. Hope these tips helped you plan your next trip to Dubai!
